WORLD HERITAGE SITES

On June 23, 2014, four archaeological sites with stone spheres located in the canton of Osa were declared World Heritage Sites under the World Heritage Convention of the World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

El Silencio, Batambal, Finca 6, and Grijalba preserve stone spheres and other archaeological elements that exemplify the exceptional universal value of this heritage. They are a recognition of the contribution of the native peoples who inhabited this part of the American continent in ancient times.
