Usado por los presidentes en la Catedral Metropolitana en San José desde finales del siglo XIX. Está decorado con el escudo de armas vigente entre 1848 y 1906 y los colores de la bandera.

Used by the presidents in the Metropolitan Cathedral in San José since the late 19th. It is decorated with the coat of arms in force between 1848 and 1906 and the colors of the flag.
