The summer or dry season is a time of warm, windy days and cool nights. As time goes from December to April, the weather turns dryer, the trees loose their leaves and the fields turn arid somehow.
Along this view, the tree species, one by one, start to bloom. The “guachipelín” blooms in December with yellow flowers, the “poró” with its orange flowers, the oak, with pink flowers, and yellow trunk and the “jacarandas” with lilac flowers, among others.
Many of these species are Costa Rican. Many others came from far, like India, but they have merged into the view and have become part of our folklore. Many of these ornamental trees have become common around us, but we don’t really know their names or facts related to their natural history.
We have developed this book about flowering trees form the Central Valley so the general public knows about these facts. The intention is to promote an interest to know the flora around us and nature in general, since Costa Rica is exceptionally rich in this area. The book includes 20 species total.
