 The Department of Natural History (DNH) produces and documents information on Natural Costa Rican Heritage by means of investigations on biological diversity and the environment.
On this trend, its investigation actions have been focused on the following areas: - National inventory of flora and fauna
- Biologic characterization of ecosystems and important conservation areas
- Follow-up to ecosystems, populations, and species to determine their degree of conservation through time
- Identification and analysis of important species in conservation
- Definition of criteria and parameters to preserve natural heritage as a consequence of the previous items.
